The SNMP Management Extension Swiftlet enables SNMP monitoring and management of a SwiftMQ Router.
After hot deployment of this Extension Swiftet, it discovers all Swiftlets of the SwiftMQ Router and loads their respective SNMP MIBs which are included in the xt$snmp.jar of this Swiftlet. The MIBs included covers releases from 4.0.2 up to the most current one for all SwiftMQ Routers, Kernel and Extension Swiftlets. Therefore it is NOT necessary to upgrade a SwiftMQ Router in order to have SNMP capabilities!
The SNMP Management Extension Swiftlet utilizes SNMP4J and SNMP4J-Agent internally and thus provides all capabilities of this library.
The integration into SNMP management tools like Nagios requires to know the SNMP OIDs of the SwiftMQ entities and attributes. SwiftMQ users are mostly familiar with a CLI context. This Extension Swiftlet provides a "getoid" utilitiy to retrieve a OID for any SwiftMQ entity and attribute. So it's very easy to integrate it into SNMP management tools.
